Health and Safety Officer
Contract Duration/Employment Type: Permanent
Location: Kildare
Hybrid/Onsite: Onsite
Working Pattern (Time/Hours): 7.30am-4.30pm Monday to Friday
Overview of the role: Reporting to the H&S Manager for Haz Waste Ireland, the successful candidate will provide support to Veolia site management team at Intel.
Responsibilities
* Implement the company's health, safety, quality and environmental policy, procedures and management systems and ensure alignment with Veolia Minimum requirement (VMRs), national legislation, internal processes and procedures and international best practices.
* Lead and drive a culture which never compromises on the health and safety of employees, contractors, customers, and partners by ensuring the workforce is fully engaged and empowered to take action when required.
* Oversee the QHSE administrative tasks associated with operations on the Intel site in the Veolia Office.
General Day to Day
* Attend regular meetings with Client
* Prepare management reports regarding compliance operations and progress
* Compliance - ADR - IMDG. Carriage of dangerous goods
* Ensure quality of the service provided, including customer service and technical aspects
* Develop, implement and review Risk Assessments procedures in line with legal requirements
* Conduct Risk Assessment audits and inspections, ensuring timely corrective actions
* Act as the QHSE Officer for Veolia on the Intel site
* Support site management with internal audits
* Support H&S Manager for Haz Waste Ireland on reports or projects
* Monitor and review near misses/hazard safety concerns and ensure actions are closed out
* Assist in organising team events
* Identify and coordinate agreed quality improvement initiatives
* Collaborate with Site Manager & H&S Manager to modify risk assessments and method statements for sign-off
* Complete and update all procedures as requested
* Support site management to investigate and prepare reports on Veolia's online reporting system
* Support site management to deliver toolbox talks, inductions and safety awareness activities
* Collaborate with H&M Manager and Site Manager to identify and implement safety improvements
* Manage training and compliance files and conduct a training gap analysis
* Advise and develop training for employees on environmental compliance and reporting tools
* Provide leadership to staff and others, managing and implementing change
* Support management in initiatives aimed at ongoing service development and improvement by fostering morale and effective communication
* Maintain the Veolia Intel customer Hub (compliance section)
* Complete site inspections regularly to ensure procedures are in compliance
To be successful in this role you will need
* Hold a minimum NFQ Level 7/8 in Occupational Health and Safety - Essential or Equivalent
* 3 plus years experience in a similar role, preferably within the Waste Industry
* Demonstrated experience in health and safety in incident investigation, risk assessment
* Chemistry Knowledge - Desirable
* Hold a current DGSA license - Desirable
* Chemical Awareness - Essential
* Safe Pass - Desirable
* Driving license - Essential
* Excellent communication and IT skills and strong knowledge of Google Applications
* High-energy professional with excellent communication, organisation and analytical skills
* Ability to work well under pressure and within a strict deadline environment
* Ability to build strong working relationships & stakeholder management
