Role Title: Clinical Nurse Manager 1Grade: CNM1Location: Vhi, Dublin and neighbouring counties.A full-time, permanent position has arisen within Vhi Health & Wellbeing for a Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (CNM1). The CNM1 is responsible for the efficient, effective assessment and care of Vhi patients and must demonstrate a personal commitment to maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice. The CNM1 works closely with the CNM2 team to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe nursing care to all patients which is consistent with the mission, vision, values and strategic plan of Vhi .What will you do:Role PurposeDeliver safe, holistic, high-quality patient care in line with organisational policies, professional standards and regulatory requirements. Assess, plan, deliver and coordinate patient care from admission through discharge, in collaboration with the clinical team to optimise patient outcomes and continuity of care. Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients referred from hospital or community settings, ensuring adherence to Vhi inclusion and exclusion criteria.Engage proactively with referrers, colleagues, patients and families/carers to support effective care planning, treatment decisions and ongoing management.Promote and apply evidence-based, person-centred care, contributing to continuous quality improvement.Participate in service development, audits and quality initiatives. Deputise for the Clinical Nurse Manager 2 as required, providing guidance and support in relation to patient care queries. Provide strong clinical and professional leadership to the community nursing team and support the mentorship and induction of new staff members.Actively promote the service to current and potential hospital and community referrers. Engage in continuous professional development, ensuring current knowledge of clinical practice and professional standards is maintained. What you need to be successful Education & ExperienceEssential:Registered General Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).Minimum of 5 years post-registration experience in general medical and/or surgical nursing.A clear understanding of common computer applications.Evidence of ongoing professional development.Full clean driving license and access to own car which is appropriately insured.Demonstrated alignment to Vhi Values.Desirable:Previous experience in home care or community-based clinical setting.A post grad management qualification or previous experience in a nursing management or senior nursing role.Competent in managing the change of urinary catheters.Skills and AbilitiesDemonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and support nursing teams, fostering a positive and effective clinical environment. Comprehensive knowledge, proficiency and post‑qualification experience in phlebotomy, IV cannulation, and the safe administration of intravenous therapies. Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to work both autonomously and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. Strong clinical judgement with advanced decision‑making and prioritisation skills, enabling effective responses in fast-paced or evolving care situations.
