Job Description Reporting to the Chief Medical Scientist and an integral part of the department's team, the successful candidate will have practical experience in Cellular Pathology and the relevant histology knowledge.
As a competent experienced medical scientist with a flexible approach to work, you will be required to rotate through all the functions of a histopathology laboratory including cut–up/dissection, embedding, microtomy (manual and automatic) and routine and special stains.
The ideal candidate will be an ambitious professional, working presently in a Senior Medical Scientist role in Histology ideally, who is looking to advance their specific Histology focussed career with us.
Participating in the development and maintenance of the ISO ***** quality management system which is patient centred and ensures quality focused results are provided for patient care, and to assist in the Total Quality Improvement of the department.
While having the support of our team of dedicated medical professionals, you will perform a broad range of scientific work in the Histology laboratory under the supervision of senior colleagues.
Duties will include carrying out routine analyses, and participating in implementing new methods.
Working Hours: 35 Hours p/w Qualifications Education Holder of Bachelor's degree- At least 5 years' experience as a Basic Grade Medical Scientist OR Holder of Master's degree- At least 2 years' experience as Senior Medical Scientist specifically in a working medical Histology laboratory AND Candidates must be able to provide evidence that they are fully registered to practice as a Medical Scientist, with CORU or as Biomedical Scientist with HCPC .
Professional Experience 5 years' experience specifically in a working medical Histology lab Extensive experience of scientific work in the Histology laboratory, embedding, microtomy (manual and automatic) and routine and special stains, and specifically in Dissection
