Social Care Healthcare Assistant/Support Worker – Disability residential service – County Cork– Permanent full time
Salary: €14.50-16.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities:
- Working as part of a team while ensuring quality care for service users.
- Create a safe and nurturing environment for service users with disabilities, focusing on their physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
- An understanding of current policy and developments at national and sectoral level in relation to Social Care within disability services.
- Good knowledge of HIQA Regulations and Standards and the relevant regulative framework
- Good knowledge and understanding of safeguarding requirements including Trust in Care, and Children's First
- Monitor and supervise, responding effectively to behavioural or emotional issues.
- Be committed to pro-actively supporting service users in their daily lives and choices.
- Maintain accurate records of progress, development, and incidents.
- Communicate effectively with families, and colleagues.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and collaborate with professionals for comprehensive care.
- Support educational activities and address learning or behavioural challenges.
- Organise recreational and social activities, fostering a positive and inclusive community.
- Handle crises and emergencies, following established protocols and collaborating with external agencies.
- Stay informed about best practices and legislative changes.
Requirements:
- Health or Social Care qualification e.g. third level degree in Psychology, Social care, Social Work etc.
- OR
- Fetac Level 5 – Health Care Major Award or its equivalent
- Experience working in a care environment.
- Good knowledge of the principals and techniques utilised in cognitive rehabilitation.
- Previous experience in providing care for persons with an intellectual disability.
- Experience working in a rehabilitation setting.
- Full driving licence.
- Have completed Intellectual Disability Module as part of Fetac 5 Major Award.
