When ISIF closes an investment, the monitoring of the investment transitions from the ISIF deal team to the Irish Portfolio Monitoring team. The successful candidate will be assigned a portfolio of Irish investments and will be expected to monitor the economic and financial performance of each investment. These investments will range across sectors such as real estate, enabling infrastructure, food and agri, technology and life sciences sectors. Investments are normally made either directly to the company (debt and/or equity) or through a fund structure. The Senior Investment Analyst's role is to work collaboratively within the Irish Portfolio Monitoring team and also among the wider ISIF deal team.The successful candidate will also work with the ISIF Risk Management team which is the first line investment risk team within ISIF. The team's main role is to measure, monitor and manage investment risk across ISIF including market risk, liquidity risk, FX risk and credit risk. The team works closely with investment and Monitoring teams on both new investment proposals and existing transactions. The team is also core to the Fund's cash management, portfolio construction and asset allocation.Activities will include:The review and analysis of investee reports for each investment as received.Being responsible for the creation and presentation of the annual review paper for each investment.Conducting company and industry research as requiredConducting financial statement analysis and assisting in the preparation of valuations for equity investmentsAttending investee company meetings as requiredAssess investment risks from both a bottom-up investment perspective and top-down portfolio perspective including market risk, liquidity risk, FX risk and credit risk.Liquidity management including both short-term and long-term portfolio cashflow forecasting.Benchmarking of portfolio and individual investment returns.Assess portfolio exposures on both a sectoral and investment risk score basis.Building effective relationships with wider ISIF team, NTMA support departments (legal, risk and compliance), Investee companies and co-investors as required.All members of the ISIF team are required to remain flexible to respond to the dynamic nature of the ISIF mandate – this may require team members to apply their skills to other types of investment, outside of their core areas of responsibility, from time to time.KnowledgeThe ideal candidate will:Have a relevant third level qualificationBe a Chartered Financial Analyst or be progressing towards either CFA qualification or accountancy qualificationDemonstrate a keen and well informed interest in investment and in developing knowledge and expertise.Desired ExperienceMinimum 4 years' experience in private equity, venture capital, corporate finance, commercial/corporate banking, accountancy or similar environmentExperience working in portfolio monitoring, fund management, risk management, corporate finance or similar environment.SkillsHigh level problem solving and financial analytical skillsStrong proven commercial acumen and a high level of accuracy and attention to detailExcel modelling skills and data analyticsA strong communicator, both in writing and verballyFlexible and considerate team playerGood range of interpersonal skillsPension AbatementIf an appointee has previously been employed in the Civil or Public Service and that appointee is entitled to or in receipt of a pension from the Civil or Public Service or where a Civil/Public Service pension comes into payment during the appointee's re-employment that pension will be subject to abatement in accordance with Section 52 of the Public Service Pensions (Single Scheme and other Provisions) Act 2012.Please note: In applying for this position, you are acknowledging that you understand that the abatement provisions, where relevant, will apply.
