Overview
Quantum Sports Data builds advanced predictive models for professional sport and deploys them directly into live markets and high performance environments.
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer / Tech Lead to take ownership of the software systems that power these models – from data pipelines and simulation engines to production trading infrastructure.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role working closely with the founder and modelling team to turn quantitative models into reliable production systems used in real markets.
What you’ll do
Own the architecture and evolution of our software platform – services, data flows, and interfaces between modelling, data and trading systems
Lead the day-to-day technical direction of a small engineering team, including code review and engineering standards
Design and build backend services and infrastructure around our prediction models, including data ingestion, processing, simulation systems, and APIs
Build integrations with betting exchanges and market platforms
Work closely with quant/modelling and trading teams to translate modelling ideas into production systems
Ensure systems are reliable, observable and performant in live trading environments
Manage complexity and technical debt as the platform scales across sports and markets
What we’re looking for
Core requirements
5+ years experience as a backend or platform engineer
Experience designing and building production systems and service-oriented architectures
Strong experience with databases and data modelling (Postgres / SQL)
Comfortable leading technical discussions and architecture decisions
Experience mentoring or leading other developers
Comfortable working in a small, fast-moving team with high ownership
Domain experience (strongly preferred)
Experience with sports analytics, sports betting, or trading systems
Strong interest in sports markets, modelling and data
Golf knowledge or interest is highly valuable given our core domain
Nice to have
AWS infrastructure
Docker / containerised workloads
Messaging or streaming systems (Kafka or similar)
Experience working with data or ML-heavy systems
