Job DescriptionLaboratory ManagerLocation: Cork Sector: Food / Healthcare / Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Type: Full-Time, PermanentOverviewWe are seeking an experienced and driven Laboratory Manager to lead both the Microbiology and Chemistry Laboratories within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This is a key leadership position responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards, and developing a high-performing team.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage a team of Laboratory Technicians across microbiology and chemistry functions.Plan and coordinate daily analytical workloads, ensuring testing and reporting align with business priorities.Monitor performance against KPIs and implement continuous improvement initiatives.Optimise laboratory schedules and staffing to ensure efficient operations.Support quality assurance by liaising with the Quality Manager and operational teams on test results and trends.Promote team development through coaching, performance reviews, and training.Ensure accuracy and timeliness of data entry in LIMS and other systems.Oversee proficiency testing, validation of new methods, and laboratory infrastructure projects.Maintain full compliance with internal quality systems, food safety standards, and legislative requirements.Collaborate with HR and other departments on people management and operational alignment.RequirementsExperience & QualificationsMinimum 2 years' experience in a laboratory management or supervisory role within food, healthcare, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.Strong understanding of quality management systems and food safety legislation.Proven ability to deliver against KPIs and operational targets.Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with SAP and LIMS is highly desirable.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational abilities.RequirementsMinimum 2 years' experience in a laboratory management or supervisory role within food, healthcare, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
