Morgan McKinely has partnered with a leading organisation providing critical digital infrastructure and services to the education and research sectors across Ireland as they for an experienced Services Architecture Manager to join their team.
In this leadership position, you will be responsible for guiding a team of technical architects in designing, building, and integrating high-quality services that support national-scale digital infrastructure. You'll play a key role in driving the strategic alignment of technical initiatives, ensuring best practices, and maintaining robust service architecture standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Technical Architects responsible for designing and integrating new services.
- Oversee service readiness prior to operational handover, ensuring technical quality, policy compliance, and long-term sustainability.
- Serve as the chairperson of the internal Engineering Standards Group, ensuring new services meet production-grade criteria.
- Coach and mentor the team, supporting both day-to-day delivery and long-term performance goals.
- Collaborate with wider technical teams (network, systems, software) to deliver innovative, secure, and scalable solutions.
- Support incident escalations, feature planning, and risk management processes.
- Promote a DevSecOps approach and uphold core organisational values in delivery and teamwork.
Essential Experience:
- Proven experience leading or managing a technical architecture or engineering team.
- Strong background in software development and system integration.
- Practical knowledge of Kubernetes (or similar orchestration tools) and GitLab CI/CD.
- Familiarity with PKI and secure service design principles.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills.
Desirable (Bonus) Skills:
- Exposure to authentication technologies like SAML, OIDC, or RADIUS.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Networking knowledge (LAN/WAN/WiFi).
- Proficiency with Python/Django.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) and centralized logging systems (e.g., Splunk, Elasticsearch).
