About the Role
Our Client, a well-established Irish newspaper, is seeking a motivated Journalist to join their editorial team in Dublin. This is a one-year full-time contract with the intention of renewal. The successful candidate will be part of a close-knit newsroom of over 10 staff members, including four dedicated journalists.
This role requires a strong writer with excellent research and communication skills, who can deliver high-quality content on a weekly publishing schedule. Reporting directly to the Editor, you will contribute to news, features, and opinion pieces, ensuring engaging and accurate coverage for a loyal readership.
Key Responsibilities:
* Research, write, and edit news and feature articles to weekly deadlines.
* Contribute original ideas and story leads that align with the newspaper's editorial vision.
* Conduct interviews and gather first-hand information to support reporting.
* Collaborate closely with the Editor and fellow journalists to ensure content accuracy and balance.
* Uphold high standards of journalistic integrity and accuracy in all published work.
* Represent the publication in a professional manner at press events, community gatherings, and interviews.
* Provide support to the editorial team as required to meet weekly publishing schedules.
Requirements:
* Minimum 1 year's experience in journalism, publishing, or related writing roles.
* Excellent writing, editing, and interviewing skills with strong attention to detail.
* Ability to work to tight weekly deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom.
* Strong understanding of Irish current affairs and cultural context.
* Team player with the ability to collaborate and contribute ideas.
Terms & Benefits:
* Salary: €30,000-€32,000 per annum.
* Contract: 1-year full-time contract, renewable.
* Working Hours: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday (flexibility available).
* Location: On-site in Dublin.
