Nazareth House Sligo is registered to accommodate 70 male or female residents who require long-term residential care or who require short-term respite, convalescence, dementia or palliative care.
The nursing home is located in Sligo town and is a short walk from bus services and the train station.
The building is divided into two residential unit which accommodate 35 residents each.

Job Purpose:
O To manage and coordinate the day-to-day care on the unit within agreed resources to ensure a seamless service delivery.
O To ensure the provision of nursing care is by best practice to include adherence to Ballymote Community Nursing policies, the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland Guidance and the code of professional conduct for Nurses.
O To ensure the provision of the service is resident-focused and upholds the principles of choice, respect, dignity, privacy, independence and fulfilment.
O Ultimate responsibility for the monitoring and review of
o Care Plans, Develop and deliver a wound report for monthly review with ADON
o Staff Management - carry out bi-monthly clinical supervision.
O In collaboration with the ADON, carry out Appraisal and performance reviews regularly as per the Performance Management system
O Ensure that review and update of assessment and care plan are completed after the incident
O Supporting the Nurses to perform at their full potential
O Ensure that excellent communication exists between staff, residents and family
O The post is split between nursing and administrative duties, thus allowing for a 360-degree overview of the facility.
i.e. 2 nursing shifts per week and two administrative days equaling 39 hours per week.
Main Responsibilities:
O To manage the service on a day-to-day basis to include dealing with residents, families and staff.
O To be professionally accountable for providing acceptable standards of care following Ballymote Community Nursing policies and the code of professional conduct for nurses.
O To ensure that professional standards of care are achieved through clinical supervision of staff.
O To ensure that all work is resident-focused and upholds the principles of choice, respect, dignity, privacy, independence and fulfilment.
O To support nursing and care staff to promote and respect the inclusion of the resident in the decision-making process.
O To contribute to the development of standards of care through innovation and initiative.
O Ensure that care staff carry out duties as assigned to the highest standard by supporting, guiding and instructing when required.
O To supervise and develop staff skills through delegation and leadership.
O To participate in the development of all operational policies/procedures and guidelines and ensure that these are implemented and understood.
O To conduct nursing assessments as indicated, using evidence-based models and practices.
O To identify nursing priorities and to develop, implement and evaluate nursing care plans as required in a resident-centred framework.
O To work closely with the Director of Nursing to achieve optimal input for the resident and to follow the recommendations of the Director of Nursing members.
O Ensure medications are ordered, stored and administered by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland guidelines.
O To participate in further education and/or in-service training to keep competencies updated.
O To act as a preceptor for undergraduate students.
O To act as Clinical facilitator mentor for newly qualified staff nurses.
O To support and ensure the clinical environment is conducive to the learning experiences of students.
O To orientate new staff to the organisation.
O To carry out other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Nursing

Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
O Be registered or due to be placed on the Register of Nurses maintained by An Bord Altranais.
/Nursing and Midwifery board
O Must hold a management qualification or be willing to undertake a management course that theoretically supports the role
O Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development at the appropriate level
O Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
O Genuine interest in working with the relevant client group
O Satisfactory Garda Vetting.
