Co-operative Housing Ireland is the national organisation representing, promoting and developing co-operative housing in Ireland. Since our foundation in 1973 we have provided nearly 5,500 homes through homeownership, shared ownership and social rented co-operatives. As an Approved Housing Body (AHB), we work with Local Authorities, Government, aspiring homeowners, tenants and developers. We currently manage over 5,000 properties across Ireland.
Role
Co-operative Housing Ireland is seeking to recruit a full-time, permanent Maintenance Technician (Plumber). The position will report to the Regional Maintenance Manager. This role is based on a 35-hour week (Monday to Friday), although some evening and weekend working will be required. The role is predominantly field based but will have an administrative base in Co-operative Housing Ireland’s Limerick Office, located at Unit B8 LEDP Campus, Roxboro Road, Co. Limerick, V94 C66H.
The Maintenance Technician (Plumber) will be a member of the Regional Asset Management Team with responsibility for the maintenance and repairs to Co-operative Housing Ireland properties.
Responsibilities
* Works in conjunction with the Regional Asset Manager and Regional Maintenance Manager on the provision of a repairs and maintenance service for Co-operative Housing Ireland Properties.
* This will include the assessment of maintenance complaints from members and housing officers, the execution of the repairs or in coordination with the Asset Management Contact Centre recommending a third-party contractor and a scope of works for the execution of the repairs.
* Carry out quality control and quality assurance inspections of works carried out by third party contractors.
* Advising the Regional Asset Manager on the performance of third-party contractors against their Service Level Agreements.
* Carry out maintenance inspections of Units, Common Areas and Co-operative Housing Ireland Offices, reporting on defects and repair requirements, identifying any health & safety risks to tenants, visitors, or employees, executing repairs where necessary and/or planning with the Asset Management Helpdesk for a third-party contractor to execute any required specialist works.
* Execution of Fire Safety Block Inspections and reporting of all defects and faults planning with the Asset Management Helpdesk for a third-party contractor to execute and required specialist works.
* Use of the Handheld PDA for acknowledging, recording, closing, or reassigning tasks and or repairs orders.
* Adopt appropriate methods when executing inspections, works and repairs including use of appropriate clothing, PPE, tools, and equipment.
* If necessary, on a rostered basis provide on-call emergency response as managed by National Contact Centre or Co-operative Housing Ireland’s 3rd Party Call Centre for out of hours emergencies.
Qualifications/Skills
* NFQ Level 6 Apprenticeship or Senior Craft’s Certificate in Plumbing trades
* 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role
* Must be demonstrable through CV.
* Eligibility to work in Ireland
* Class B Irish Drivers Licence
* Registered Gas Installer
* Portable Appliance Testing Qualified
* Experience in the maintenance or installation of Heat Pumps

* Must have initiative and the ability to work under own initiative without supervision.
* Will need to possess excellent organisational skills.
* Ensures that all outputs are delivered to a high standard.
