Job SummaryFinning (UK) Ltd is looking for a Service Technical Trainer to create and deliver technical training for engineers across the UK and Ireland. The role supports the delivery of the training calendar, develops training programmes aligned with the Technician Career Development Programme, utilises blended learning techniques, and maintains safety, inclusivity and customer‑service culture.ResponsibilitiesSupport delivery of the training calendar for technical training by partnering with Business Partner for Service and SMEs.Collaborate with the Training Team to produce the technical training curriculum for engineers.Plan and schedule courses in line with the CAT Technician Career Development Programme, NPI and technical training requirements.Develop and deliver training programmes for engineers and customers, ensuring compliance with CAT and Finning standards and promoting safety and customer service culture.Employ blended learning techniques to maximise training opportunities for Finning employees.Work with coordinators to schedule courses and maximise attendance.Maintain current product knowledge, keep courses updated with products, procedures, tooling and training aids.Maintain Service Training workshops to meet SHEQ and contamination control requirements.Ensure positive feedback and high satisfaction ratings from course delegates.Provide guidance, direction and advice on technical training, and supervise all training courses to maintain safety and maximize learning.Maintain records of training and assessment in accordance with relevant codes of practice and legislation.Continuously assess and evaluate the effectiveness of training programmes, making improvements where appropriate.Qualifications5 years of experience working on heavy plant or diesel generators.Evidence of continuous professional development.Ability to build and maintain positive relationships and engage with a wide range of individuals with varying levels of seniority.Relevant qualification in training delivery or learning and development (desirable).Certified training qualification (TAQA, A1, Assessor award) or equivalent (desirable).Experience with Caterpillar product range (desirable).Coaching or mentoring certificate (desirable).Experience in vocational learning provision (desirable).Assessor qualification and experience supervising others (desirable).SkillsGood project management and planning/organisation skills.Engaging training delivery style.Basic Excel and intermediate Word and PowerPoint skills.Ability to deliver accredited programmes.Demonstrated mentoring and facilitation skills.Flexibility and adaptability to a rapidly changing commercial environment.Works on own initiative; motivated and dynamic self‑starter.Effective problem‑solver.Practical working knowledge of Caterpillar product range.Appreciation of different learning methodologies.Willingness to learn and develop professionally.Accountability and responsibility for day‑to‑day delivery of service technical training.Benefits25 days holiday (+ bank holidays).Annual bonus.Healthcare benefits covering medical, optical, hearing, dentistry, physio.Access to company share scheme.5% pension (matched by company).Life insurance.Company laptop and phone.Enhanced maternity and paternity packages.Family‑friendly policies and enhanced flexible working options.Support from 40+ mental health first aiders and employee wellbeing solutions.Length of service and recognition awards.EEO StatementFinning is an equal opportunity employer and encourages individuals from diverse backgrounds.
