Responsibilities
The Health Care Assistant (HCA) assists the Nursing Staff in the delivery of patient care, under the supervision of the Clinical Nurse Managers and Staff Nurses. The primary role is to assist nurses with nursing care and associated duties.
Work in any patient service area of the clinic and rotate between wards and other patient service areas as deemed appropriate by clinic management.
Undertake the physical demands of the role, maintain strict confidentiality, and ensure the dignity of patients at all times.
Report on and off duty to the Clinical Nurse Manager or deputy (or in their absence).
Demonstrate personal initiative, value others’ opinions, communicate concisely, and actively meet internal and external customer needs to achieve customer satisfaction.
Work under the supervision and direction of Nursing Staff; decisions about patient care are made by Nursing Staff regarding the work to be undertaken by the Attendant.
Be free from any defect or disease that would render them unsuitable to hold office and be in good health to render regular and efficient service.
Be of good character and able to work on own initiative, prioritise, and manage multiple issues with attention to detail.
Be motivated and able to identify potential difficulties and formulate solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
Possess a good standard of education.
FETAC Level 5 Qualification is essential.
