Senior BookkeeperLocation: Kilcormac, OffalyEmployment Type: Full-timeReports to: Finance Manager / Head of Finance OperationsAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to take ownership of day-to-day financial records for a portfolio of clients. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical bookkeeping skills, excellent attention to detail, and confidence working across multiple systems and stakeholders.This is not a junior or entry-level role. You will be trusted to run client books independently, ensure accuracy and compliance, and support month-end and year-end processes.Key ResponsibilitiesCore BookkeepingMaintain accurate books of account for multiple entitiesProcess high-volume AP and AR transactionsBank, credit card, and loan reconciliationsPost journals, accruals, prepayments, and correctionsMaintain fixed asset and depreciation schedulesVAT & CompliancePrepare and reconcile Irish VAT returns (bi-monthly, quarterly, annual)Ensure correct VAT treatment across domestic, EU, and UK transactionsSupport audit and Revenue queries with clean, well-documented recordsMonth-End & ReportingOwn month-end close tasks to agreed timelinesPrepare management accounts support schedulesIdentify and resolve discrepancies proactivelyLiaise with accountants, CFOs, and auditors as requiredSystems & ProcessWork confidently with cloud accounting systems (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)Maintain strong document control and audit trailsContribute to process improvements and standardisationSupport automation and system upgrades where applicableClient & Team InteractionAct as a reliable point of contact for bookkeeping-related client queriesSupport junior team members through guidance and review (where applicable)Communicate clearly, professionally, and proactivelyRequired Experience & SkillsMinimum 5+ years' experience in a senior bookkeeping or similar roleStrong experience with Irish VAT and Irish accounting practicesProven ability to manage multiple entities and deadlinesHigh attention to detail and accuracyStrong Excel skills and comfort working with financial dataConfident using modern accounting software and digital toolsAble to work independently with minimal supervisionDesirable (but not essential)Experience working in an outsourced or multi-client environmentExposure to management accounts or finance operations teamsPrior experience reviewing or overseeing junior bookkeeping workWhat We OfferA senior, trusted role with real responsibilityExposure to a wide range of clients and industriesA professional, process-driven finance environmentCompetitive salary aligned with experienceOpportunities to grow into broader finance operations or leadership rolesJob Types: Full-time, PermanentPay: €30,000.00-€40,000.00 per yearBenefits:Bike to work schemeCompany pensionOn-site gymOn-site parkingExperience:Bookkeeping in Irish Market: 5 years (required)Licence/Certification:Work Permit (required)Work Location: In person
