Job Description
Your role as a Pipeline Protection Specialist will be to develop and manage interfaces with key stakeholders such as Local Authorities, National Roads Authority, Railway Procurement Agency, Fire Services, and Electrical Infrastructure operators.
You will liaise with third parties regarding development near Transmission Pipelines or Distribution Strategic Mains, including Local Authorities, Architects, Engineers, and Planning Consultants, Property Developers, Electrical Infrastructure developers and operators, Landowners and Farmers, Contractors and Utilities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Approve and issue maps, drawings, and relevant codes of practice using technologies such as GIS and DBYD online.
2. Maintain a database documenting all third-party activity near pipelines.
3. Prepare and issue monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for internal use and regulatory reporting.
4. Assess development proposals and participate in forums to evaluate their impact on pipeline safety.
5. Initiate pipe protection measures and supervise construction where necessary.
6. Advise third parties on appropriate procedures during development.
7. Participate in safety campaigns and stakeholder information sessions.
8. Develop and maintain policies and procedures for third-party liaison and development near pipelines.
9. Coordinate with Agricultural Liaison Officers and the Distribution DBYD team to ensure consistency.
10. Work with inspectors and operations teams to track and resolve queries.
11. Provide updates and escalate risks or issues to the Senior Pipeline Safety Engineer.
12. Lead improvement initiatives for tracking and managing third-party development enquiries.
