EHS Specialist
Location: Longford
We are seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to lead and enhance EHS performance at our Longford facility. This is a key role focused on ensuring regulatory compliance, promoting a proactive safety culture, and driving continuous environmental and operational improvements across the site.
Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will act as a trusted advisor to site leadership while playing a central role in risk management, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure full compliance with all Environmental, Health & Safety legislation, including HSA and EPA requirements
Maintain and continuously improve the Environmental Management System in line with ISO 14001 standards
Act as ISO 14001 Management Representative during internal and external audits
Set, monitor, and deliver ISO 14001 objectives, registers, and KPIs
Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and SOPs
Drive initiatives to reduce workplace hazards, environmental impact, and incidents
Manage contractor safety and ensure adherence to site regulations
Oversee permit-to-work systems, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and risk assessments
Lead accident and incident investigations, identifying root causes and corrective actions
Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments across site operations
Deliver EHS training and identify ongoing training needs across the organisation
Support engineering projects and new product introductions to ensure compliance
Lead emergency preparedness activities, including drills and response planning
Track and report EHS performance metrics, and contribute to corporate EHS reporting
Participate in corporate EHS initiatives and committees
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health & Safety, or a related discipline
Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment
Experience in injection moulding or a similar industry is highly desirable
Strong knowledge of ISO 14001; ISO 45001 knowledge is advantageous
Experience supporting engineering and NPI projects
Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Strong communication, training, and stakeholder engagement skills
QQI Level 6 Train the Trainer (or equivalent) preferred
