Overview
UPMC Aut Even Hospital is recruiting a Housekeeping Operative to provide high-quality service in line with infection control standards and protocols throughout the organisation.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Use personal protective equipment when cleaning/disinfecting.
Clean all furniture and fittings.
Perform high and low level dusting.
Clean all bathroom areas (toilet, cistern, brushes, holders, washbasin, mirrors, showers, doors) and replenish dispensers.
Hoover and wash all floors including corners and edges.
Clean offices, day rooms, sluice rooms, stores, nurses' stations, linen rooms, staff changing areas, staff rooms, public and staff bathrooms, lifts, receptions, corridors and stairs.
Clean and store all cleaning equipment after use.
Work closely with the Housekeeping Supervisor, Facilities Manager, Ward Managers and other staff to maintain high cleanliness standards.
Clean equipment and areas in accordance with cleaning schedules using recommended detergents.
Adhere to the colour-coded system for cleaning cloths and segregation of mop heads.
Follow isolation room and blood/spillage spill procedures in accordance with infection-control policy.
Ensure caution signs are in place and wear appropriate PPE.
Comply with reasonable requests from the Housekeeping Supervisor.
Accept extra duties as required.

General
Work may be required in other hospital areas as requested by line manager or nurse management.
Provide satisfactory documentary evidence of all training and experience.
Respect the organisational values of the hospital.

Actively participate in quality programmes.
Work with line manager to plan, monitor, analyse and improve quality programmes.
Participate in developing performance indicators.
Initiate, participate in and evaluate audits according to JCI, hospital policy and Lean requirements.

Take reasonable care to protect own safety, health and welfare and that of others.
Co-operate with UPMC to ensure safety, health and welfare at work and report dangers.
Attend annual education on Fire Health & Safety.
Information Governance
In the course of your employment you may have access to or hear information concerning the medical or personal affairs of patients and/or staff.
Such records and information are strictly confidential; unless acting on the instructions of an authorised officer, no information concerning staff or patients may be divulged or discussed except in the performance of normal duty.
Records must never be left in a manner that permits unauthorised persons to obtain access and must be kept in safe custody when no longer required.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum of Leaving Certificate Level or equivalent.
Experience in cleaning equipment and areas following schedules and using recommended detergents.

Salary
€30,500 – €38,796 per annum based on a 39-hour work week.
