Our client is a global consulting, multi discipline engineering and construction management.
They specialise in Project Management, Multi-Discipline Design, and Construction Management for Pharmaceutical and Life Science Clients across Ireland and Europe
As a Senior Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring project success by preparing robust and accurate project estimates during the Preliminary Design Phase.
Your estimates will form the basis for project budget control throughout detailed engineering, construction, and handover stages.
You will work collaboratively within a highly interactive, multi-disciplinary team, ensuring all project risks and unique requirements are captured, and supporting the development of junior team members.
Reporting to: Lead Estimator or Project Controls Manager (as Lead Estimator on specific projects)
Prepare comprehensive project cost estimates from drawings, 3D models, and sketches, ensuring all project-specific risks and requirements are covered.
Establish cost rates using historical data, vendor quotations, contractor feedback, and industry benchmarks.
Format and document estimates using standardised Excel templates, including detailed narratives on assumptions, risks, and benchmarking data.
Conduct thorough reviews and peer checks to ensure accuracy and compliance with company standards.
Collaborate closely with Project Controls colleagues to maintain high-quality cost management practices.
Mentor and support the development and training of junior estimators within the team.
Participate actively in project meetings, lessons learned reviews, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
Provide feedback to Project Managers on project resourcing, risks, and constraints.
Build and maintain strong client relationships, contributing to business development and proposal activities.
Uphold and promote safe working practices in both office and site environments.
Requirements
5+ years experience in cost estimating, ideally within pharmaceutical or semiconductor sectors.
Technical proficiency across CSA (Civil, Structural & Architectural), M&E (Mechanical & Electrical), Process, Automation & Controls disciplines—able to prepare high-quality, detailed estimates.
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline (third-level qualification preferred).
Progress toward or completion of SCS Chartership or another relevant chartership is advantageous.
Strong teamwork skills and ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary project team.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational abilities.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other relevant IT systems.
Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, "can-do" attitude and attention to detail.
