Logistics Manager (Container Control)

Job Description
The successful applicant will be responsible for managing the empty container stock for all Ireland, while maintaining a strong customer service level to ensure our clients receive the high level of service, they expect from MSC. The candidate will work closely with the logistics team, reporting directly to the Managing Director.

The key tasks for the Logistics Manager are as follows:
* Managing the container control team and their performance
* Motivate and develop the team through engagement, training, and personal development program
* Reviewing the container control team daily gate moves from/to the depots and terminals
* Managing our container stock, ensuring sufficient levels are in place to meet booking requirements
* Managing excess equipment, ensuring evacuation out of Ireland in a timely manner
* Working closely with the depots and terminals to ensure we have sufficient space to store our empty container stock
* Liaising with the local depots, terminals, and hauliers ensuring the correct allocation and return of our empty containers
* Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with clients, suppliers and other stakeholders.
* Reporting and forecasting stock levels locally and to head office
* Managing the reefer container and special equipment process
* Managing repairs and empty stock in conjunction with the centralised MSC team
* Ensuring the smooth running of all EDI exchanges with the depots and terminals pertinent to our empty container stock
* Oversee the sale of empty containers locally
* Work closely with our team members in our Cork and Belfast offices as oversight
* Monitoring costs (invoices)
* Answering customers' queries.
* Work closely with the container control team to ensure "end-to-end" co-operation within the Logistics Department and all other relevant departments
* Analysing company processes and procedures ensuring best practice
* Developing process enhancement strategies and further advance our EDI solutions where applicable
* Manage the negotiation of rates and terms with the local depots in liaison with the Managing Director
* Ad-hoc duties as required by the Managing Director
Essential Criteria
:
* Minimum five years' experience managing empty container stock within the shipping or related logistics industry.
* Full clean EU driving license.
A bachelor's degree or higher in a business-related discipline is desirable.
