Job Description The Access to Apprenticeship programme supports the transition of young women and men ****** years old) from disadvantaged backgrounds into recognised apprenticeships schemes.
A substantial proportion of Access to Apprenticeship students go on to acquire an apprenticeship in the construction, engineering, electrical and motor industries.
A key focus of the programme is to increase female participation in craft apprenticeship.
The programme combines the experience of apprenticeship education, transferable skills development, short work placements and the preparation of a digital portfolio.
On completion of the Access to Apprenticeship programme a student is awarded a Level 6 Continuous Professional Development (minor award).
The appointee will report to the Head Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeships, School of Mechanical Engineering.
The appointee will be responsible for efficient and effective coordination of teaching and learning activities, alongside student learning support, for the Access to Apprenticeship programme in TU Dublin.
The appointee will be expected to participate in the academic delivery and coordination of the programme.
The appointee will engage with the academic and research community to ensure best practice is achieved in all aspects of the programme.
The appointee will participate in the development of programmes and modules to advance apprenticeship provision to meet demand.
They will maintain established relationships across the community sector including youth organisations, community training centres, youth employment schemes and schools, as well as supporting the programmes wider engagement with industry.
Hours of Work:This is a wholetime post.
In addition to teaching hours (up to 18 hours per week), attendance is required from Monday to Friday during the general working hours of the School and University.
Location: The post will be based at one of the TU Dublin Campuses i.e. Aungier Street, Bolton Street, Grangegorman, Blanchardstown or Tallaght.
Regular attendance at other sites will be required.
Salary: The Assistant Lecturer Salary Scale is: €51,153 - €63,104 €46,601 - €63,104 (New Entrants) Appointments will be made at the appropriate point on the appropriate scale.
