Role Description:Are you a qualified VN who would love to work with native wildlife? Come and join our team of dedicated and likeminded people whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and release injured or orphaned native wildlife.In this role, you will be responsible for providing the highest level of care for the wildlife admitted to the charity. You will be giving animals a full health check on admission and identifying injuries and ailments. Being comfortable in a fast-paced dynamic environment and working flexible hours is essential. During peak season, this can mean an early start 7am or a late finish 10pm.Essential Skills & Qualifications:Qualification in veterinary nursing and on the VCI registerHigh attention to detail for assessing and triaging patients, managing traumatic injuries and monitoring patients for progress.Physical stamina, fast-paced summer season (over 1800 animals admitted in 2025)Strong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work well in a team of both volunteers, staff and managementWillingness to work weekends, early mornings, late evenings and bank holidays where requiredFull driving license and access to a car (transport of animals to vets or releases)Passionate about working with and training volunteers and interns in animal careAdhering to WRC SOP's, policies and proceduresDesirable:Knowledge of wildlife anatomy, physiology and species-specific pharmacologyAbility to apply wing wraps, leg splints, hand rearing, deal with traumatic injuries and woundsComfortable handling birds of prey, swans and large mammalsInterested in participating in our social media educational videos and if required provision of educational talks to the publicInterest in developing skills through research and training during the yearDaily tasks:Assessment and care of injured animals, feeding, cleaning and disinfecting enclosures and equipment, monitoring inventory and proactively flagging low stockUpdating patient records in a timely manner both on physical paperwork and online databaseReporting to centre management and providing progress updates prior to releases Apply with a CV and cover letter to Quote Veterinary nurse in title.
