Overview
Optum Rx is looking for an experienced, curious, and self-motivated individual to lead a team that will be responsible for the development of new products and services for the organization. You will partner with business stakeholders, data science teams and technology teams, build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, acquire knowledge of the business, and drive a strategic platform build. You will join a team of product managers, product owners, data scientists, and analysts who are responsible for building the pricing platform for over $100 billion of prescription drug spend in the US market annually. The team delivers value for clients and supports people filling millions of prescriptions each year. This role is part of Optum, expanding in Ireland to provide investment, support, and resources to advance your career.

Primary Responsibilities
Strong focus on NLP, RAG and Document Analysis
Optimize models for performance, scalability and efficiency
Ability to take research whitepapers to production; provide solid technical leadership to drive the Document Analysis team (data scientists and AI engineers)
Drive excellence and standardization across the data science team with a focus on skills development, training and career progression
Provide strategic and technical direction aligned to analytic efforts around AI/ML
Stay current on internal and external technological advances in AI and advanced analytics applicable to document processing
Drive inclusion and diversity as part of developing a strong, diverse team culture
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree (or higher) in Data Science or relevant subject, or equivalent experience
Experience in AI/ML model integration into production environments
Experience with text preprocessing, embeddings (Word2Vec, BERT), and feature engineering
Proficient in Python and data science libraries (scikit-learn, NLTK)
Ability to evaluate and fine-tune NLP models and OCR
Preferable Qualifications
Understanding of statistical modelling and evaluation metrics for NLP
Postgraduate or MSc in Data Science
