I am dealing with a highly engaged Hiring Team who are eager to fill this strategic position within the Engineering team.
In the words of the CTO, he is looking for : "Designed X system to handle Y constraint" "Hit this scaling issue, and I changed the architecture to" "I rewrote this part because it was the bottleneck" They must have worked on hard technical problems: scaling multi-tenant systems performance bottlenecks data consistency and correctness distributed systems trade-offs production incidents and recovery We'll be looking for strong technical judgement Clear reasoning, ability to explain trade-offs (not just outcomes) willingness to say "this is the wrong approach and here's why" They don't need to be coding 100% of the time, but they must be: comfortable reading and reviewing real code capable of jumping into a system and contributing grounded in how things actually work, not just how they should work This is an amazing opportunity to join a Saa S client as they scale, you will have the opportunity to drive their platform and offer and contribute to the architectural direction of their Saa S platform.
