Job Summary
The Assistant Chef supports the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and ensuring high-quality standards. The role is vital in maintaining smooth kitchen functions and compliance with Singapore food hygiene and workplace safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in food preparation, cooking, garnishing, and plating dishes.
* Follow recipes, portion control, and presentation guidelines set by the Head Chef.
* Maintain kitchen cleanliness in compliance with NEA/SFA food hygiene standards.
* Assist in stock management, storage, and kitchen inventory checks.
* Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any faults.
* Train and guide junior staff and kitchen assistants.
* Step in to support or cover for the Head Chef when required.
* Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and grooming.
* Ensure safety and hygiene compliance under Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) standards.
Requirements
* Certificate in Culinary Arts or equivalent experience.
* Minimum 2–3 years' experience in a professional kitchen.
* Knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques and ingredients.
* Valid WSQ Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (mandatory in Singapore).
* Strong teamwork and time management skills.
