Role Brief
Working in the capacity of a Project Engineer for an NNIT client in Dublin you will support the Implementation of a range of Operational Technology (OT) projects.
Your responsibilities will encompass the design, development, implementation and maintenance of critical automation systems and ensure full compliance with industry regulations.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with experience in process automation and knowledge of PLC/SCADA, PCS and BMS systems.
A key requirement is a minimum of 4 years' experience in GxP environments (life sciences, pharma, biotechnology or medical devices manufacturing).
Primary Responsibilities
* Act as a lead project engineers for CAPEx automation projects and ensure adherence to scope, schedule and budget.
* Design, program, and implement automation solutions for manufacturing processes and critical systems.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop control strategies and integrate new automation technologies into existing systems.
* Participate in the installation, commissioning, and qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) of automated systems and equipment.
* Ensure all automation systems meet the necessary GMP, GxP, and FDA regulatory standards including 21 CFR Part 11.
* Prepare and review validation documentation, including test protocols, reports, and design specifications.
* Provide technical support for automated systems, diagnosing and resolving any hardware, software, or process issues.
* Work closely with process engineers, IT, quality, and validation teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of automation systems.
* Liaise with vendors and third-party contractors during the design, installation, and support of automation systems.
Skills Brief
* A minimum of 4 years' experience in a project focused or senior automation systems engineer role, with project exposure in a GxP environment (life sciences, pharma, biotechnology or medical devices manufacturing).
* Experience working with Siemens Desigo BMS and ABB Cylon with process knowledge of HVAC and building controls.
* Strong understanding of GMP, GxP, and FDA guidelines and their impact on automated systems.
* Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley), SCADA systems (e.g. iFix, Intouch) and BAS (Siemens Desigo).
* Experience with PCS systems (PCS7) and system integration.
* Strong knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPC).
* Strong knowledge of electrical control circuits (Digital, Analog, ATEX).
* Knowledge of virtualised operating systems (VMware ESXi).
* Strong project management and project ownership skills.
Person Brief
Candidates must have a minimum of a level 8 B.Sc. Degree in Engineering or equivalent, with emphasis in mechatronics, software development, electrical, electronic or automation discipline, with a minimum of 4 years' experience in industry in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology or medical devices manufacturing environment.
Strong experience in a project engineering focused role is essential with clear evidence you have managed a range of CapEx projects and have delivered projects on schedule and in budget. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication & problem solving skills as well as strong stakeholder & vendor management skills.
This role is fully onsite in Dublin and the successful candidate must be based in Dublin or within a reasonable commute. Only candidates with a current valid work permit to work in Ireland can be considered due to project timelines.
