CORLANN -WEST REGION POSTS: TEMPORARY FULL TIME SOCIAL CARE WORKERS Failte Community Services Ref: 96771 A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.
DESCRIPTION AND VISION OF SERVICES Corlann - West Region provide a community based, person centred service focusing on the needs and abilities of children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
The vision of Corlann is to support people with intellectual disabilities to achieve a full and valued life in their community, in line with best practice both nationally and internationally.
Working in partnership with each person supported by Corlann, we aim to create opportunities for people supported by Corlann to have ordinary life experiences and to be closely connected to family and friends.
We are committed to supporting people to live a life of their choosing.
Filte Community Services is a Community Outreach Programme providing support to adults with a Mild Intellectual Disability.
We support individuals who live independently throughout Galway City and County, to access education, employment, leisure activities, and community-based day services.
The service aims to promote independence by enabling adults to live full, active, and safe lives within their communities.
This is achieved through the delivery of therapeutic supports, frontline services, and the promotion of meaningful community engagement.
We work in ongoing partnership with people supported by the service, their families, and external agencies to maximise the use of community resources.
Filte Community Services provides person-centred and individualised supports that are adaptable and responsive to the evolving needs of the people we support.
All supports are underpinned by: Corlann policies and procedures Personal Outcome Measures The Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015 HSE Safeguarding Vulnerable Persons at Risk of Abuse policy Our approach ensures that individuals are supported to exercise choice, build independence, and participate meaningfully in their communities.
Location: Failte Community Services.
Staff allocation will work in community services or New Directions based day service.
The appointee will work within Failte Community services in community outreach or New Directions day services.
Initially based in Filte house in Ballybane, this work location may change due to future service needs.
The Role: Social Care Workers fulfil a key worker supportive and advocative role for adults supported by Corlann in all aspects of their lives, focusing on each individual's ability and promoting independence and development of skills at all times.
The Social Care Worker will assist people with the development of person-centred plans and critically, will support people to make informed choices and fulfil their potential.
They will encourage participation in the community through inclusive and creative thinking, seek opportunities for new experiences and encourage positive risk taking in leading to informed choices.
Reporting/Responsible to: Team Leader/Team Manager Qualifications and Experience: A relevant 3rd level qualification in Social Care Sector e.g.
Social Care qualification registered with CORU or be in the process of registering with CORU.
A full clean Driving Licence, which qualifies you to drive on Irish roads as well as use of your own transport ,is an essential requirement.
Experience of working with people with an intellectual disability/autism/complex needs is desirable, however, induction and training will be provided.
Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post and proficiency in I.
T.
skills. Skills: Candidates must demonstrate: Leadership and networking skills - Staff will be expected to network with local community groups and develop positive links for the people who use the service.
Good organisational and planning skills, with the ability to support goal setting and following through to the achievement of outcomes Creativity, initiative, self-motivation, flexibility and good judgement Commitment to current best practice internationally and co-operating in an interdisciplinary team environment with a person-centred philosophy Excellent listening skills, patience and a sense of humour Working Hours: 78 hours per fortnight All posts are based on a 14-day duty roster.
The successful candidates may be required to work to accommodate an integrated day service, with weekend work, some split duty hours, public holidays, evening/night duty and sleep-ins to meet service needs.
Corlann model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures quality and person centred planning system requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each person supported Annual Leave: 22 days per annum (pro-rata for part-time), i.e.
8.46 hours per 100 hours worked.
Appropriate service related leave will be granted after 5 and 10 years' service respectively.
Remuneration: Department of Health Social Care Worker salary scale as at 01/02/2026 apply: €40,851 x 11 increments - €56,155 per annum (pro-rata for part-time).
A long service increment €57,217 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) is payable after 3 years on the maximum of the scale.
Additional payments will be made for weekends, public holidays and night duty when worked.
Salary quoted is based on a 39 hour working week.
The successful candidate will be granted incremental credit subject to satisfactory verification of previous public sector service.
Tenure: These posts are temporary full time & pensionable.
A panel may be formed as a result of this process from which subsequent permanent, temporary or fixed term Social Care Worker appointments within my Failte Community Services may be offered over the next 6 to 12 months.
Probation: A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post.
The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment.
The probation period may be extended at the Employer's discretion.
Travel: The person appointed must provide his/her own car and must furnish an indemnity from Insurers in favour of the employer.
Travelling expenses at the appropriate rate will be paid in respect of travel necessarily performed in the discharge of duty.
The successful candidates will be expected to drive the service vehicles as required.
