Role Overview
The People Technology Platform Engineer, Workday is responsible for designing, building, and evolving SIE’s global Workday platform across core HR domains. This independent contributor in People Technology Services owns the design, configuration architecture, and delivery of scalable Workday solutions, translating business needs into durable platform capabilities and ensuring solutions are reusable, maintainable, and aligned with long‑term system design and governance standards.
What You'll Be Doing
Platform Engineering & Solution Design

Design, configure, and implement scalable Workday platform solutions across core HR domains, including business process frameworks, organizational structures, eligibility rules, and calculated fields
Define and apply configuration design patterns that promote reuse, scalability, and maintainability across the platform
Translate business problems into well‑structured system solutions, ensuring alignment with platform capabilities, governance standards, and long‑term sustainability
Evaluate solution options and make informed design decisions, balancing business needs, system constraints, and operational considerations
Own end‑to‑end delivery of platform changes, including design, build, testing, and deployment readiness
Ensure solutions are consistent with broader platform architecture and avoid fragmented or one‑off implementations

Platform Ownership & Operations

Act as a platform owner for assigned Workday domains (e.g., Core HCM, Absence, Compensation, Talent), accountable for system behavior, design integrity, and continuous improvement
Maintain platform reliability through issue diagnosis and resolution, identifying root causes and implementing structural improvements to reduce recurrence
Partner with team members to prioritize demand, balancing business urgency with platform sustainability and capacity
Collaborate with multi‑functional teams (e.g., integrations, data, security) to deliver cohesive, end‑to‑end platform solutions

Data & Reporting Solutions

Design and deliver scalable reporting and data solutions, including Advanced, Matrix, and Composite reports, as part of the broader People data ecosystem
Develop and maintain calculated fields and data structures to support both operational and analytical use cases
Ensure accuracy, integrity, and consistency of data across Workday processes and outputs

Delivery & Agile Execution

Translate business needs into clearly defined user stories and technical solutions
Participate actively in Agile delivery, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives
Own and deliver assigned workstreams within sprint cycles, ensuring quality and alignment with expected outcomes
Implement and support testing activities (unit, integration, UAT), ensuring solutions meet functional and technical expectations

Platform Design & Continuous Improvement

Find opportunities to improve platform scalability, performance, and maintainability
Contribute to evolving platform design standards, patterns, and governance practices
Drive incremental automation and simplification of manual or fragmented processes
Continuously improve individual capability and contribute to team learning and development

Governance, Compliance & Quality

Ensure solutions meet data privacy, security, and audit requirements
Follow established governance, release management, and change control practices
Contribute to improving documentation, standards, and ways of working across the platform

What We're Looking For

5+ years of hands‑on experience with enterprise platforms, including direct configuration and delivery of Workday solutions
Demonstrated experience designing and implementing scalable configuration solutions, including business processes, calculated fields, and core system setup
Proven track record of independently troubleshooting and resolving system issues across configuration, data, and reporting
Hands‑on experience developing Workday reports (Advanced, Matrix, Composite) used in production environments
Proven understanding of the Workday Core HCM data model and data flows across business processes
Experience translating business needs into system solutions, evaluating trade‑offs between speed, complexity, and long‑term maintainability
Experience working in Agile delivery environments, with ownership of defined workstreams or sub‑projects
Ability to clearly articulate personal contributions to delivered solutions, including specific platform changes and outcomes

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Workday Security configuration
Exposure to integrations (e.g., EIB, Core Connectors) and data interfaces
Experience working within global enterprise environments across multiple regions
Familiarity with additional Workday modules (e.g., Absence, Compensation, Talent)
Experience contributing to platform standards, governance models, or design frameworks

Profile

Strong platform approach, with the ability to balance functional understanding and technical design
Operates independently while aligning with team standards and architectural principles
Diligent, with a focus on quality, scalability, and sustainability
Practical and delivery‑oriented, balancing speed with long‑term maintainability
Clear communicator who can bridge business and technical perspectives
Comfortable working in an evolving operating model, with a willingness to take ownership and expand capability
Demonstrates curiosity, continuous learning, and a proactive approach to improving both individual and team performance
