OverviewThe primary role of the Material Planner is to ensure the availability of raw material components to meet the production schedule in Drug Substance, Drug Product, and Finish Goods Packaging Operations. The Planner will plan, purchase, and release raw materials within the guidelines established in the ERP SAP system, contributing to the development and implementation of systems and processes that align optimal raw material coverage with the Master Production Schedule and product launch activities.Key ResponsibilitiesResponsible for Material Requirements Planning (MRP) in line with the Master Production Schedule in SAP to ensure operational requirements are met.Convert purchase requests to purchase orders as required by SAP detail schedule, including payment of supplier invoices.Monitor material release status to meet detailed schedule.Oversee inventory management end‑to‑end, including pricing, purchase price variance, reserve process, expiry, FIFO, FEFO, safety stock, and lead times.Issue quarterly supplier forecasts.Generate and issue recurring heatmap/Material Readiness reports to site stakeholders; participate in weekly material readiness activities.Ensure supplier open‑order book is regularly aligned with SAP on a weekly basis.Maintain master data accuracy in SAP for material components.Aging receipts, resolving issues, and identifying root causes.Manage Short Term Exception Management (STEM) program and proactively engage stakeholders to resolve schedule conflicts.Provide inputs to the monthly site Supply Chain Review meeting.Participate in end‑of‑campaign performance review (Plan V Actual) to refine future campaign requirements.Participate in Global Category Form and Quarterly Business Review (QBR).Join site Single Use Application strategy meetings; serve on functional process team as required.Facilitate Tier 1 Purchasing team meetings.Complete material planning scenarios as required to maintain detailed schedule for Change Requests, CAPA, Deviation, and Supplier Change Notifications within the QMS.Engage in Right‑First‑Time (Six Sigma) and lean manufacturing practices to drive operational excellence.Develop, maintain, and publish KPIs for supplier performance (OTIF); participate in continuous improvement projects focused on safety and quality.Adhere to SOPs and participate in daily cross‑functional meetings to ensure adherence to schedule (ATS) and adherence to plan (ATP).Participate in weekly S&OE meetings to ensure cross‑functional alignment of plans.Follow Material Planner Standard Work.Track metrics, cost savings, dual sourcing, and operational readiness programs (ORP).Other duties as assigned by business needs.Knowledge, Skills and CapabilitiesDevelop efficient and effective material planning processes and systems.Engage with vendors ethically and compliantly.Maintain a patient‑ and customer‑focused mindset, ensuring clear communication of requirements.Drive results while optimizing cross‑functional resources.Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement within material operations.Collaborate effectively with all departments across the site and wider organization.Achieve personal and departmental goals efficiently.Think strategically and act tactically across organizational levels.Maintain high integrity in all activities.Demonstrate drive and eagerness for growth and increased responsibility.Education & ExperienceMinimum of an Honours Degree (NFQ level 7) in Supply Chain Management or related business discipline.Supply Chain certification preferred (e.g., APICS).Project Management or Lean certification desirable.ExperienceMinimum of 2 years relevant Supply Chain Management experience.Experience in planning/purchasing in a pharmaceutical environment with strong technical/systems background desirable.Proficiency in SAP essential.Track record in leading and managing a direct material category (e.g., chemicals, Single Use Technologies) highly desirable.Knowledge of Power BI or similar data analytics tools desirable.Minimum of 1 year experience working in a GMP environment.Project Management focused on value creation and waste reduction programmes highly desirable.
