Cork University Maternity Hospital (CUMH) is a 150-bed tertiary referral centre for maternity, neonatology, and gynaecology, located on the campus of Cork University Hospital. CUMH provides services within the SSWHG Maternity Directorate, emphasizing partnership and multidisciplinary involvement.
Services and Facilities
1. Clinical placements for student midwives and nurses in partnership with University College Cork.
2. Implementation of the MN-CMS (Maternal Newborn Clinical Management System).
3. Four maternity units across Ireland South Women and Infants Directorate, including neonatology, gynaecology, midwifery, and obstetrics.
4. Four operating theatres (two obstetric, two gynaecology), a recovery room, and a high dependency unit.
Health Region and Management
The HSE South West health region manages services in Cork and Kerry, including hospital, community, primary care, social care, and voluntary sector services. The region will transition to new structures in 2025, aligning services geographically for better accessibility and accountability.
Purpose of Post
The role involves managing, caring for, and treating service users, ensuring high standards of care. The CMM 1 will provide clinical and professional leadership within the midwifery team, including staff development, training, and supervision of students.
