Overview
My client (based in South-West Ireland but looking for a remote employee based anywhere in Ireland) is a long established technology provider servicing complex, high availability systems, processing significant numbers of API requests and financial transactions. They have partnered with IT Search to speak to Engineers with strong Platform, AWS and Reliability experience who also have continued to remain active in the area of Java Development. The role is to act as a Senior resource between the Platform/DevOps and backend development teams, understanding their existing deployment and reliability processes and adding improvements over the short term and designing and executing more longer term strategies.
Responsibilities
* Work with Production, DevOps, Sys Admin and Development to understand and improve areas such as scalability, ongoing deployment, code quality and security
* Maintain the operations of critical systems
* Plan, execute and build automated environments
* Coordinate with production support in the diagnosis of and solution to production issues
* Manage a series of ongoing projects leading to continuous improvement alongside various ad hoc projects as they arise
* Liaise with Senior Management to suggest, create and execute performance improvements
Requirements
* 10 years of post-grad commercial experience
* Ongoing high level of experience in Java and AWS and related tools (Docker, Ansible etc.)
* Exceptional communication skills
* High level of comfort within a fast paced production environment
* Ability and desire to work with multiple small teams, switching contexts regularly
* Any exposure to mobile technologies will also be of interest
