This is a full time/Permanent position. We are currently recruiting a Senior Radiation Therapist to work as an integral part of the radiology team at the hospital.ResponsibilitiesDeliver radiation therapy treatments in accordance with prescribed treatment plans, departmental procedures, and established safety standards.Ensure high-quality patient care by maintaining a supportive environment for patients of all ages, their families, medical staff, and colleagues.Monitor and document treatment delivery accurately, ensuring complete and precise recording of treatment data in the patient management system.Perform localisation imaging, treatment verification imaging, and measurements required for treatment planning and simulation procedures.Identify and report any deviations from prescribed treatment delivery to the Radiotherapy Services Manager (RTSM) or Physicist.Educate patients and families on treatment procedures, potential side effects, and care instructions, responding effectively to concerns and monitoring patient reactions.Conduct and document daily and weekly quality assurance (QA) checks on equipment and report any irregularities according to departmental protocols.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and assist in coordinating patient care while supporting the daily operations of treatment and CT units.Support the training and supervision of junior radiation therapists and students, contributing to education and professional development within the department.Adhere to professional standards, hospital policies, safety regulations, and quality management processes, while maintaining effective communication, documentation, and flexibility to meet service needs.RequirementsBachelor of Science degree or equivalent qualification from a recognised Irish, EU, or AMA-approved institution.IIR validation or recognised IIR course certification is required.CORU registration as a Radiographer/Radiation Therapist is essential.Minimum of 3 years relevant post-graduate experience in Radiotherapy.Promotion to Senior level is merit-based and may be considered during annual performance reviews once sufficient experience is obtained.Strong technical knowledge and clinical skills with the ability to make sound critical decisions in radiotherapy practice.Ability to communicate treatment procedures clearly to patients and colleagues using effective interpersonal skills.Demonstrated planning, organisational, and time management abilities in a clinical environment.Flexibility to participate in departmental rotations, rostering, and on-call duties as required.Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating motivation, innovation, and adherence to the Radiographers Registration Board Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics.
