Job Title: Maintenance Technician

On behalf of our client, we are welcoming applications from qualified Maintenance personnel (minimum trade cert, level 6) / Marine Engineers or similar technical disciplines with experience in regulated environments (GMP, GxP, cleanroom standards) and exposure to utilities, HVAC, and lab equipment. As part of the Lab Maintenance Technical team, you will support a busy pharmaceutical site in Dublin 22. This is a permanent, full-time role offering excellent exposure to cutting-edge utility and laboratory systems within a highly regulated GMP environment.
Role Overview:
The successful candidate will be responsible for executing both preventive and corrective maintenance tasks in line with site and industry standards. This includes ensuring the ongoing reliability of laboratory and utility systems to support manufacturing and R&D operations.
This can be everything from steam, purified water, and compressed air, to refrigeration, HVAC control, and energy management tools like CHP and FDD systems. Expertise in GMP utilities and SCADA/BMS will be an advantage in this high-spec pharmaceutical environment. See requirements below.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute scheduled and corrective maintenance tasks on a range of plant utilities and lab support equipment.
- Act as a key point of contact for maintenance-related escalations.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and liaise with shift operations and engineering teams for resolution.
- Maintain strong working relationships across the internal team, client, and subcontractors.
- Complete and maintain all required site documentation and update maintenance tracking logs (MTLs).
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with site and company EHS guidelines and procedures.
- Collaborate with contractors during planned maintenance and service activities.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure maintenance procedures (PMO steps) remain current and compliant.
- Periodically review SOPs/EWIs for accuracy and validity.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to enhancing contract performance and site reliability.
- Ensure all work areas and equipment are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, safety, and serviceability.
Skills & Qualifications:
Essential:
- Senior Trades qualification, City & Guilds, or equivalent in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a mechanical, building services, or utilities maintenance role.
- Hands-on experience with equipment such as pumps, HVAC systems, air compressors, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, CIP systems, refrigeration systems, and purified water systems (WFI/RO).
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS/SCADA).
- Strong knowledge of both preventive and corrective maintenance approaches.
- Experience using CMMS systems (e.g. SAP, EAMS).
- Competency in working under Permit to Work systems, and performing risk assessments and COHE methods.
- Comfortable reading and interpreting P&IDs, SOPs, and GMP documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to think analytically and methodically.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and other computer-based systems.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive and self-motivated work ethic.
Desirable:
- Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or food industry.
- Marine engineering background with 2–4 years' sea-going experience (advantageous but not essential).
- Experience maintaining laboratory environments, including autoclaves, fume hoods, bio-safety cabinets, LAF cabinets, and vacuum or fire suppression systems.
- Exposure to predictive maintenance (CBM) techniques.
- Understanding of basic instrumentation.
