Position SummaryThe Senior Staff Field Service Engineer is responsible for onsite customer interaction, escalation meetings, and recovery plan execution. The engineer represents the site in technical meetings, provides training to lower level FSEs, and leads technical task forces to resolve escalated issues.Primary ResponsibilitiesPerform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of semiconductor etch equipment.Train customers and lower level FSEs through in‑depth on‑the‑job instruction.Assist with tool upgrades, retrofits, and document procedures for future modifications.Conduct skills audits, recommend improvements, and maintain quality standards for all maintenance activities.Model consistent high‑level workmanship, checklist adherence, and first‑time fixes.Maintain full technical competence and certification on all Hitachi tool models at the site.Utilize detailed equipment logs and error‑code analysis to investigate technical issues and develop action plans.Mentor and train less experienced engineers, sharing knowledge across the team.Work independently in a self‑motivated manner to resolve new or diverse technical issues.Demonstrate diplomacy, negotiation skills, collaboration, and synergy in all interactions.Lead technical task forces and escalated issues, using model‑based problem‑solving to drive action plans, technical reporting, and after‑action reviews.Education, Licenses and CertificationBachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a related field preferred.Military experience or equivalent education and work experience in mechanical, electrical, electronics, chemical or similar disciplines.Complete specific Hitachi High‑Tech Level I, II and III training and pass related certifications.ExperienceMinimum 5 years supporting capital equipment in a semiconductor environment at a senior technical level.Experience with electronic, electrical, electromagnetic devices; pneumatic and mechanical systems; vacuum technology; analog and digital circuitry; digital voltmeters, oscilloscopes, data loggers, hand tools; RF, microwave systems; gas delivery and monitoring; robot/wafer handling systems.Read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints and schematics.Good computer skills with proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Skills and AbilitiesExpertise in all FSE family tasks for all tool models at the customer site.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multicultural, team‑based environment.Strong verbal and written communication skills with management, colleagues and external customers.Strong work ethic, timely completion of assignments, and effective teamwork.Work Environment & Safety RisksWork in a semiconductor manufacturing cleanroom environment, fully clad in clean‑room garments and PPE. Hazards include electrical, pneumatic, compressed gas, mechanical, and radiation.Compressed workweeks and overtime may be required. The role may involve electromagnetic frequencies that could interfere with medical implants.Safety Requirements100% adherence to customer and HTA‑IR safety policy, including the use of PPE.Complete all job‑related safety training and certifications on time.Regular safety audit completion, identifying hazards and rectifying them.Equipment or Physical RequirementsAbility to see small objects and distinguish color codes.Ability to transport parts and toolbox efficiently.Hand‑eye coordination capable of supporting delicate to large items.Ability to communicate via telephone and pager.
