Full job description: Established in 1929, Callan Golf Club is located 1 mile from Callan on the Knocktopher Road and just 12 miles from Kilkenny.
This mature 18 hole parkland course features well-placed spinneys, bunkers and hazards, with water featuring on eight of the holes and has a justifiable and well-earned reputation for the high standard of presentation and upkeep of both fairways and greens.
Callan Golf Club seeks a Head Greenkeeper to lead our course maintenance team.
Key Responsibilities:Oversee the maintenance of the golf course to a consistent standard.The ability to lead and direct the greenkeeping and course maintenance team.Implement and manage agreed turf care programmes.Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, weather conditions, and turf health.
Utilise this data to inform decision-making and strategy.Provide input into the development of the course maintenance budget.Manage the course maintenance budget in liaison with the Course Convenor/Executive committee/Course Advisor.Implement agreed sustainable practices into the management of the golf course.Maintain all machinery and equipment to the required maintenance and safety standards.Implement agreed course improvement projects.Maintain good standards that meet Health & Safety (H.S.A.)
and Environmental Protection Agency (E.P.A.)
standards.Record Plant Protection Products (PPP) use on the APTI Sustainable portal.Communicate with members regarding course conditions, maintenance schedules, and any course renovation programs.Qualifications and Experience: A minimum of 2-5 years experience in golf course maintenance with time spent in a supervisory/leadership role is an advantage.A minimum FETAC Level 6, equivalent or higher in a relevant qualification with evidence of continuing professional development.
PA1, PA2, PA6 required with Chainsaw certificate is an advantage; training will be provided if required.Energetic and diligent worker that can demonstrate high levels of attention to detail.Full Driver License.In-depth knowledge of turf management practices, irrigation systems, and course maintenance equipment.Excellent management and communication skills including well-developed IT skills.Able to perform physically demanding outdoor work in various weather conditions.A competitive package is offered for the role, the level of which will be determined by the successful candidate's experience and qualifications.
