Posted on: 17th November, 2025Location: Charleville, Co CorkRef No. - IRE_CH_MECH_156Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled hands-on Mechanical Engineer to manage the build, assembly, and testing of mechanical skid-mounted systems for the water and wastewater treatment industry in Ireland and the UK.This role involves end-to-end responsibility for ensuring all builds meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance in line with BS/EN standards, water industry specifications (WIMES), and regulatory frameworks.The successful candidate will coordinate between design, production, and quality teams to ensure every project is delivered on time, on budget, and in full compliance with engineering and client specifications.Key ResponsibilitiesProject & Build ManagementManage the mechanical build of packaged skid systems (e.g., chemical dosing, filtration, or pumping skids) from design handover to FAT and delivery.Coordinate with design, fabrication, electrical, and controls teams to ensure seamless integration and build accuracy.Oversee project schedules, build sequencing, material availability, and subcontractor activities.Conduct regular build reviews to ensure adherence to specifications and timelines.Technical & Compliance OversightInterpret and review mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and general assembly models to guide fabrication and assembly.Ensure all mechanical works comply with BS/EN standards, WIMES specifications, and relevant water industry regulations.knowledge of pressure systems, pipework fabrication, materials compatibility (WRAS-approved), and chemical dosing safety.Maintain strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards in all build activities.Quality Assurance & DocumentationImplement and maintain Quality Assurance procedures throughout the build process.Prepare and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), build records, and traceability documentation.Conduct and document Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) in accordance with client and regulatory requirements.Ensure full asset register documentation is maintained, including equipment data sheets, serial numbers, and certification records.Liaise with Quality and Compliance teams to ensure all documentation aligns with project and audit requirements.Continuous ImprovementIdentify opportunities to enhance build efficiency, reliability, and quality.Participate in lessons learned and design feedback sessions to improve future projects.Support the implementation of lean manufacturing and standardisationinitiatives across skid builds.Qualifications & ExperienceEssential:Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.Proven experience managing the build or assembly of mechanical skid-mounted or packaged systems within the water or wastewater industry.Strong understanding of BS/EN standards, WIMES specifications, and water industry compliance requirements.Experience with FAT procedures, mechanical inspections, and QA/QC documentation.Proficiency in interpreting P&IDs, GA drawings, and mechanical fabrication drawings.Working knowledge of materials selection (including WRAS-approved components) and pipework standards.Desirable:Experience with chemical dosing, filtration, or pumping systems.Knowledge of pressure testing, PED compliance, and ATEX (where applicable).Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for component tracking and documentation control.Awareness of UE and UK water company technical standards (e.g., Severn Trent, Thames Water, United Utilities and Uisce Eireann).Personal AttributesStrong attention to detail and finish quality.Excellent communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams.Methodical, organized, and proactive problem-solver.Committed to maintaining high safety and quality standards.Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.Additional InformationFull-time position with competitive salary and benefits.Occasional travel to client sites or suppliers for inspection and FAT witnessing may be required.Excellent career development opportunities within a growing engineering business serving the Irish and UK water sector.
