Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Site Agent – Structures to lead the structural works on a major construction project within the operational airport environment. The role involves managing the delivery of structural elements, ensuring quality, safety, and programme compliance, while coordinating with multiple stakeholders in a live airport setting.
Responsibilities
* Understand the design and construction methodologies that relate to the project’s structures.
* Lead the execution of structural works, including concrete, steel, and precast elements.
* Oversee daily site activities, ensuring alignment with project plans, specifications, and safety protocols.
* Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely and efficient delivery of works.
* Ensure Site performance and Cost control.
* Maintain and report cost.
* Maintain and report production performance.
* Ensure management of works to budget.
* Develop and maintain detailed work programmes, short-term lookaheads, and resource plans.
* Liaise with airport operations teams to manage access, logistics, and operational constraints.
* Ensure works are sequenced to minimize disruption to airport operations and comply with security protocols.
* Ensure all structural works meet design specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
* Conduct inspections and quality checks and manage non-conformance reports (NCRs).
* Maintain accurate records of site activities, inspections, and progress.
* Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on site.
* Ensure compliance with airport safety regulations, project-specific safety plans, and statutory requirements.
* Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings, and incident investigations.
* Manage and mentor site engineers, foremen, and other site staff.
* Report progress, risks, and issues to the Construction Manager and Project Manager.
* Collaborate with design, planning, and commercial teams to resolve technical and programme challenges.
* Ensure compliance as temporary works coordinator and keep temporary works register.
Essential Criteria
* Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
* Minimum 8 years of experience in structural construction, with at least 3 years in a senior site role.
* Proven experience in airport or high-security infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
* Strong knowledge of structural construction methods, temporary works, and sequencing.
* Proficient in project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, AutoCAD).
* Valid Safe Pass and relevant certifications (e.g., CSCS, Manual Handling, Temporary Works Coordinator).
* Attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Software packages: Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook.
* Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
* Good leadership, motivational and people management skills.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Comfortable interacting with all levels of management of multiple disciplines.
* Interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others, both internal and external.
Desirable
* Membership of a related professional body e.g. Chartered Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
* Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
