We have been making a difference in Irish lives since 1946.This is how you can make a difference at Abbott:As a Senior Technical Engineer Control Systems, you will provide technical leadership in PLC communications, vision, and RFID communications. You will coordinate with suppliers to ensure automation and software support scales to increased volumes within ADC requirements. You will lead technical and validation engineering teams, interfacing with product teams, department managers, designers, equipment manufacturers, R&D, quality, and regulatory personnel. This role is based at our TPM in Fermoy, Cork, with travel up to 30%.Responsibilities:Oversee engineering modifications to improve operational effectiveness.Develop and implement strategies for complex engineering challenges.Design and conduct engineering studies and experiments involving multiple variables.Evaluate issues, assess impacts, and guide decisions.Define design and process specifications aligned with business goals.Complete documentation adhering to standards.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet company objectives.Follow all EHS regulations and policies.Exhibit strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Demonstrate self-motivation, adaptability, and willingness to work extended hours.Manage time and resources effectively.Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.At least 6 years of engineering or operational experience.Proficient in PLC programming (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or Codesys).Knowledge of Cognex vision systems.Experience with RFID communication systems.Experience developing and executing software testing plans.Knowledge of FAT, SAT, commissioning, and validation of high-speed automation equipment.What we offer:Attractive compensation, including competitive pay and benefits such as family health insurance, life assurance, and more.Abbott is an equal opportunity employer.
