The Role:
The Asset Management and Sustainability area is responsible for the development of asset policies, strategies and plans to determine the significant investment required into Ireland’s infrastructure. The area drives investment and the Sustainability and Innovation agenda for the organisation and leads on Environmental Regulation and Compliance activities, ensuring the quality of water and wastewater is continuously monitored. The Asset Management function is responsible for strategic planning, prioritisation, and development of Uisce Éireann’s Capital Works pipeline. The function plays a key role in promoting collaboration and co‑ordination of activities across the three asset functions as well as providing environmental assessment and management expertise across Uisce Éireann.
The Asset Strategy Team is responsible for developing strategic plans for all water, wastewater and natural assets and ensuring the authorisation of the asset base. The scope covers five main areas: environmental strategy, water asset strategy, wastewater asset strategy, forward planning and planning strategy.
Reporting to the Policy and Legislative Reform Manager, the Asset Strategy Technical Lead coordinates activities relating to the identification, stakeholder interface, successful delivery of required reform to secondary legislation, policy and guidelines that impact Uisce Eireann’s ability to transform its asset base. They will be accountable for supporting asset management.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Support the Policy and Legislative Reform Manager in the coordination of activities relating to the identification of legislation, policy and guidelines that impact Uisce Eireann’s ability to transform the asset base.
Work collaboratively across internal teams and with external stakeholders to ensure that the reform programme best reflects and supports long‑term water services objectives.
Lead a culture of change and continuous improvement as a key enabler in transformation to a high‑performing utility, facilitating delivery of service excellence across the asset management function. Assess future statutory obligations in relation to the recast Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive, Water Framework Directive and other relevant legislation and government policy. Provide reports and insights by collating and clearly presenting the relevant information in a timely manner.
Conduct analysis of environmental and water quality datasets to identify and escalates relevant issues or risks.
Develop new internal policies, as required, to ensure work is up to date and in line with environmental legislation.
Contribute to setting the team objectives and targets.
Manage internal and external resources.
Perform other such duties in relation to work and asset management as Uisce Eireann may reasonably require.

General Duties and Responsibilities

Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business.
Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards.
Support the delivery of the Uisce Eireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation‑wide objectives.
Conduct duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Eireann’s Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and other relevant cybersecurity regulation.
Other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Relevant third level qualification and/or accreditation is desirable and/or relevant experience (such as environmental science, environmental engineering, civil engineering).
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the water, environmental, or similar industries is desirable.
Experience in project management and delivery of water and wastewater projects.
Ability to develop effective partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Knowledge of national and European environmental, water and wastewater legislation; preferred demonstrated people management experience, with strong people, change management and conflict resolution skills.
Proven track record of creating a collaborative environment and communicating clearly within the team.
Proven track record with dealing with complex issues, proactively and in a timely fashion along with ability to communicate complex information to others.
Experience in managing end‑to‑end processes to ensure delivery meets customer expectations.
Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements, and propose and implement solutions.
Demonstrate adaptability and the ability to change focus and direction in line with business strategy and requirements.
Proactively identifying new areas of improvement and using newly gained knowledge and skill on the job.
Skilled in continuously reviewing safety practices and suggesting ways for improvement.
