O'Connor Car Centre is a growing motor dealership based in Little Island, Co. Cork, operated alongside the well established Paul O'Connor Cars in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford. Both businesses are busy and well respected within the Irish motor industry.
We are now seeking a qualified and experienced Financial Controller to take full financial oversight of both dealerships. This is a key leadership role offering autonomy, variety, and the opportunity to contribute strategically to the continued success of two dynamic businesses.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Directors, the Financial Controller will be responsible for all aspects of financial management across both O'Connor Car Centre and Paul O'Connor Cars. You will lead and oversee accounting operations, provide management reporting and analysis, and ensure the businesses remain financially sound and compliant.
You will be supported by an Accounts Assistant in each location but will have overall responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial information.
Key Responsibilities
* Full financial control and reporting across both dealerships.
* Preparation of monthly management accounts, budgets, and forecasts.
* Cashflow management and financial planning.
* Overseeing payroll, VAT, VIES, and tax compliance.
* Liaising with external accountants, auditors, and financial institutions.
* Implementing and monitoring internal controls and efficiencies.
* Supporting Directors with financial insights and strategic decision-making.
* Managing and mentoring Accounts Assistants in both garages.
* Oversight of stock control, vehicle financing, and trade debtor/creditor management.
* Periodic travel (expensed) to the Dungarvan site as required.
Requirements
* Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
* Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience.
* Strong commercial and analytical skills.
* Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, systems, and compliance.
* Experience in the motor trade or a similar industry is a distinct advantage.
* Strong understanding of VAT, Import Taxes and motor trade accounting rules also a distinct advantage.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
