Excel Recruitment is delighted to partner with a leading electrical and mechanical contractor to recruit a high-calibre EHS Advisor for their projects across Ireland. This role will suit a proactive and experienced health and safety professional who enjoys variety in their day-to-day and thrives in a dynamic project environment. The successful candidate will support multiple project teams, providing expert guidance on environmental, health and safety compliance, and helping drive a strong culture of safety from the ground up.
Responsibilities for EHS Advisor
1. Provide clear, practical EHS advice and support to site teams, subcontractors, and all stakeholders on assigned projects.
2. Coordinate day-to-day EHS activity across multiple sites, reporting directly to the EHS Manager.
3. Support project teams in developing, updating, and implementing project-specific EHS Plans and RAMS.
4. Conduct site audits and inspections, produce corrective action plans, and follow up on implementation.
5. Lead site inductions, toolbox talks, and targeted training sessions as required.
6. Investigate incidents thoroughly, establish root causes, and propose effective preventative actions.
7. Maintain site EHS documentation and ensure statutory compliance is continuously met.
8. Set up new project sites to full EHS standards-ensuring all signage, documentation, and PPE are in place.
9. Monitor contractor competence and oversee proper appointment procedures.
10. Provide monthly KPI reporting and contribute to continuous improvement across the business.
11. Liaise with clients, main contractors, and other third parties on all EHS matters.
12. Attend and contribute to internal and external safety meetings.
13. Promote the company's Incentive Scheme and ensure all welfare facilities are in place and maintained.
14. Advise on PPE requirements and oversee correct usage on site.
15. Lead and participate in EHS investigations, non-conformance reports, and ongoing risk assessments.
Requirements for EHS Advisor
16. Minimum 3 years' EHS experience in a similar construction or engineering environment.
17. Diploma (NFQ Level 8) in Occupational Health & Safety; Certificate (NFQ Level 6) in Environmental Management.
18. Relevant certifications: Safe Pass, First Aid, Train the Trainer, CSCS (UK equivalent acceptable).
19. ISO 14000 and ISO 45000 Internal Auditor qualification preferred.
20. Familiar with Construction Regulations, CDM roles, and contractor oversight.
21. Experienced in using and maintaining EHS Management Systems (e.g., ISOs, SSiPs, Achilles).
22. Strong communication and report-writing skills; able to present confidently at all levels.
23. Comfortable travelling to multiple sites with occasional overnight stays.
24. Current member of IOSH (or equivalent) desirable.
