Emerald Locums are currently recruiting for an Optometrist to join a well‑established ophthalmic service in the Midlands, covering sites across Mullingar, Longford, and Athlone. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a progressive service supporting both acute and community‑based patient care.
This role offers exposure to a wide range of optometry and ophthalmology services, working alongside multidisciplinary teams in both hospital and community settings. Opportunities are available across permanent and contract roles, with a strong emphasis on patient‑centred care and clinical excellence.

Duties
Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and vision assessments
Diagnose and manage a range of ocular conditions
Prescribe and advise on corrective lenses and treatment plans
Work closely with ophthalmology teams and other healthcare professionals
Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation
Participate in service development and quality improvement initiatives
Requirements
Degree in Optometry or equivalent recognised qualification
Registration with CORU (or eligibility for registration, if applicable)
Experience in clinical optometry (acute or community settings desirable)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
