Background:
Northside Family Resource Centre continues to develop and promote good practice, with the child, individual and family as the focus of all we do. Working closely with the Management Team and Community Employment Project, the Chef Manager will have responsibility for the management and development of the Catering Service ensuring meals are produced across all the service areas to the highest of standards. The Chef Manager will lead the kitchens and provide education and training for Community Employment Workers; Student Placements; and Volunteers. The Manager will work closely with the Education Development Worker to devise learning plans for each worker.
Purpose of the Role:
To work with the Voluntary Management Committee and the Coordinator to ensure the highest quality food is produced and served to vulnerable Communities.
Key Areas of Work
* Overall day to day running of the Catering Services which serves Sunshine Childcare Services; Afterschool Clubs; Meals on Wheels; and regular programmes and events across several sites.
* Ensuring the nutritional needs are met and guidelines followed in relation to the various target groups.
* Ensure capacity of the service is expanded and all regulation requirements are met.
* Use time not directly engaged in Catering to carry out related work, including administration and/or other Co Ordinator duties where appropriate.
* Be energetic and flexible in approaches and methodologies.
* Report to the Coordinator of Older Persons Services on a day-to-day basis and work in direct partnership with senior members of staff to meet strategic aims.
* To engage regularly with target groups in the development of menu plans
* Oversee all food and equipment ordering and manage budgets.
* Maintain and oversee regulatory standards in accordance with Environmental Health requirements.
Business Development
* Help Identify new business opportunities, including growth areas, emerging markets etc
* Set aims and objectives for service area
* Provide reports for the Voluntary Board of Management
* Be responsible for Health Safety of the building
* Recruitment of trainees, Interns and employment participants. Development of individual learning plans for carer pathways in partnership with the education development worker, centre training programmes.
* Keep records of staff details, timesheets, attendance etc.
* Facilitate vegetable growing to eat healthily and affordably and develop programmes to support the eradication of food poverty.
Policies
* Ensure awareness and implementation of all policies and procedures of Northside Family Resource Centre
* Ensure relevant others (students, volunteers, parents, and visitors) are made aware of and adhere to all policies and procedures.
Administration
* Ensure the completion of all official checklists, files, etc including EHO requirements and Menu Cal.
* Prepare and submit regular and specific records/ reports as requested. These will include but not be limited to
* Cleaning checklists
* Equipment Maintenance
* Food Storage
* Accident Report Book
Training/Networking
* Continually update and renew practices and completing relevant courses.
* Participate in team building, staff training and development sessions of Family Resource Centre
* Identify the training needs of staff in conjunction with Co Ordinator for Older Person's Services.
The chef manager reports to the Coordinator for Older Person's Services daily. Final responsibility rests with the Board of Management through the CEO and Coordinator for Older Person's Services.
Flexibility is required regarding the location of work across our two sites, Ballynanty and King's Island.
General
* All work activities and duties to be developed within the context of any public health guidance.
* Document the work on an on-going basis and prepare regular work/progress reports for the Voluntary Board of Directors and the CEO.
* Any other tasks that may be assigned by the Co-ordinator/CEO.
The successful candidate will have:
* A recognised diploma / trade qualification in Catering or similar discipline.
* Experience of working with/mentoring trainees in a supportive manner.
* Ability to deliver flexible training options and to provide guidance to new and
* emerging learners.
* Capability to work across a diverse range of projects.
* Good IT, communication, and teamwork skills
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
The Chef Manager is employed by the Board of Management of Northside Family Resource Centre.
Hours of Work
* The post will be full-time: 37.5 hours per week. However, flexible working hours will be considered
* A six-month probation period will apply.
* Flexibility regarding the location of work is required across our services.
Accountability
The Chef Manager will be responsible to the Voluntary Management Committee through the Coordinator of Older Person's Services and to the CEO.
Confidentiality
The Chef manager will always observe confidentiality in relation to Centre Business
Salary
The starting salary will be no less than €40,648 per Annum pro rata (€38,507) and is subject to continued funding. Weekly and monthly pay frequency option available.
Pension
The company will make a provision for pension, at the rate of double your contribution and subject to a maximum of five percent of the gross salary, subject to funding.
Holidays
You are entitled to twenty-five days annual leave (pro rata for part-time positions) with two additional privilege days (Christmas Eve and Good Friday)
Other relevant responsibilities as identified by management.
