NoOffer DescriptionApplications are invited for a temporary post of a Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within School of Biosystems and Food Engineering.The Postdoctoral Research Fellow Level 1 will contribute to the DETCON project, a nationally coordinated research programme focused on the detection, characterisation and control of Listeria monocytogenes in Irish food production systems. Based in the School of Biosystems and Food Engineering at University College Dublin, the role supports national food safety priorities through applied microbiological and genomic research.The postholder will work closely with the current project researcher to analyse whole genome sequencing data, support strain characterisation, and generate high-quality datasets for predictive microbial modelling and risk assessment. Responsibilities include contributing to the design and execution of food challenge studies, integrating genomic and phenotypic data, and engaging with Irish food business operators through training and demonstration activities.Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Fellow will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and with academic and industry partners nationwide. The role includes responsibility for experimental design, data integrity, and delivery of project milestones.Expected outcomes include completion of strain selection and challenge studies, contribution to predictive growth models for L. monocytogenes, peer-reviewed publications, industry engagement activities, and stakeholder guidance aligned with national food safety objectives.PD1 Salary: €46,805 - €49,396 per annum.Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.Closing date: 12:00 noon (local Irish time) on 19/03/2026.Applications must be submitted by the closing date and time specified.
