Summary:

Murphy Geospatial is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Department to lead and elevate one of our most cutting edge and client facing, technologically advanced teams. This is not just a managerial role, it's a client-facing leadership opportunity for someone deeply passionate about geospatial technologies, UAV and mobile mapping solutions, and delivering measurable value to high profile clients.

We're looking for someone with strong technical roots in GIS & Geospatial Surveying, who also brings a natural flair for leadership, outbound client relationship building, and solution selling. You'll be empowered to innovate, connect directly with clients, lead strategic project delivery, and grow our commercial footprint.

What You'll Do:

Leadership & Strategic Direction

* Lead, coach, and mentor a growing team of geospatial surveyors, UAV specialists, processors, and assistants.
* Drive performance, culture, and growth across the department while championing innovation and operational excellence.
* Align department goals with company vision and emerging trends in the geospatial, mobile mapping, GIS and UAV markets.

Client Engagement & Business Development

* Act as the face of the department, confidently managing face-to-face client meetings, project consultations, and ongoing relationships.
* Partner with the sales and estimating teams to provide technical insights lead outbound engagement and account development and shape winning proposals.
* Represent the department at industry events and client briefings, acting as a thought leader and trusted technical and commercial advisor.

Technical & Project Oversight

* Guide the use of modern technologies such as Mobile Mapping, UAV with LiDAR to deliver exceptional project outcomes.
* Oversee all technical and field operations, ensuring quality, compliance, and innovation are at the core of delivery.
* Solve complex project and client challenges with speed and accuracy.
* Promote cross-functional collaboration with other departments to deliver multi-disciplinary solutions

Commercial & Operational Excellence

* Own department budget, forecasts, and KPIs, ensuring accurate reporting and profitability.
* Drive efficiencies in field and office operations to enhance scalability and profitability.
* Ensure robust health and safety compliance and best practices across all active projects.

What You'll Bring:

* 10+ years' experience leading high-performing teams within GIS, Geospatial Surveying, or related fields, with at least 5 years in a client-facing leadership or departmental head role.
* Excellent commercial awareness with the ability to spot opportunities, drive value, and influence stakeholders.
* Demonstrated success in building and growing client relationships particularly in infrastructure, energy, or public sector delivery.
* Proven ability to manage multiple technical projects and priorities simultaneously.
* Degree in Geomatics, Geospatial Engineering, GIS and Remote Sensing, Civil Engineering, or similar.
* Full, valid EU/Irish driving licence required.
