Trade Data Strategy & Management Lead (Director)

Overview
Citi, a leading global bank, serves approximately 200 million customer accounts across more than 160 countries. The Trade and Working Capital Solutions (TWCS) within Services offers working‑capital solutions across multiple sectors. The Director‑level role is responsible for defining and executing the Trade Data Strategy and roadmap, establishing governance, and leading data initiatives across the organization.
Responsibilities
Lead the definition and execution of the Trade Data Strategy and roadmap, aligning with product visions and overall product experience.
Manage a team of data managers delivering the Technology Book of Work for Data Strategy initiatives.
Act as the Trade product representative within Data ART scrum teams, ensuring achievement of Data OKRs.
Collaborate with Data Governance to implement robust data governance, quality, and management frameworks across TWCS.
Work with Data Engineering to define requirements for data architecture, infrastructure, and tools.
Identify opportunities to leverage data for business growth, operational efficiency, and enhanced client experience.
Maintain awareness of emerging data technologies, industry trends, and regulatory developments.
Establish and monitor key performance indicators and metrics, reporting progress to senior management.
Lead the creation of TWCS external data services and the self‑serve data consumption strategy.
Drive data‑driven decision‑making processes by providing insights and recommendations based on data analysis.
Build partnerships across Business, Technology, Operations, and engage with TTS PDS team on all data initiatives.
Produce internal MI dashboards supporting product operating model, profitability, client returns, capital allocation, and resource allocation.
Drive data analytics insights for business actions and growth (e.g., client origination, cross‑sell, resource allocation).
Support risk analytics for real‑time risk management of wholesale credit‑lending.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Administration, Finance, or a related quantitative field. Master’s preferred.
Minimum 15 years of experience in data strategy, data management, or related consulting roles within financial services, including at least 10 years in a leadership capacity.
Proven ability to architect and articulate a clear data strategy aligned with business objectives.
Deep expertise in data governance frameworks, data quality management, and regulatory compliance (GDPR, CCPA, BCBS 239, etc.).
Strong grasp of data architecture principles (data warehousing, lakes, meshes), data modeling, and database technologies.
Excellent leadership, management, and communication skills; able to influence at C‑suite level.
Experience with Agile, Scrum, or SAFe frameworks for managing data projects.
Analytical mindset for interpreting complex data and driving actionable insights.
Knowledge of trade finance, transaction banking, and financial markets is highly desirable.
