Fire Engineer
Overview
OCFPM is seeking an experienced Fire Engineer to support a diverse portfolio of projects, ensuring compliance, safety, and high-quality technical delivery.
This role involves developing fire strategies, guiding design teams, and contributing to continuous improvement within the organisation.
You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders while supporting the development of junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
Develop fire strategies across a wide range of projects using relevant codes and standards, including TGD Part B & M, BS ****, BS ****, FM, and NFPA.
Prepare and lodge Fire Safety Certificate (FSC) and Disabled Access Certificate (DAC) applications via the Building Control Management System (BCMS).
Provide internal FSC and DAC consultancy to design and contract administration teams on building regulation matters.
Lead fire strategy discussions with design teams, client representatives, building control authorities, and fire service personnel.
Interpret and implement insurer requirements to reduce property damage and business interruption risks.
Support BCAR compliance and prepare fire inspection reports during construction phases.
Supervise, mentor, and train graduates in fire engineering principles and practices.
Conduct quality reviews of technical deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and vendor bid evaluations.
Assist in preparing proposals, scopes, schedules, and budgets for upcoming projects.
Collaborate effectively within a team environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Contribute proactively to all stages of project delivery.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Qualified Fire Engineer with 5+ years of experience, including fire safety and disabled access certification.
Postgraduate or bachelor's degree in fire engineering (preferred).
Strong understanding of fire safety engineering principles and a desire to continue developing in this field.
Familiarity with key codes and standards, including Part B & M, BS ****, and BS ****.
Proficiency in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Knowledge of architectural design standards and wider building regulations.
Ability to work effectively with engineering disciplines, clients, and vendors.
Familiarity with BCAR and BCMS.
Nice to Have
Experience working with Revit and BIM tools.
