This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the planning and development of high-voltage transmission and distribution assets nationwide.You will provide specialist civil engineering support from project inception through planning stage design and submission for major electricity infrastructure projects.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver planning-stage civil designs for HV substation projects, including planning drawings and coordination of specialist inputs (hydrology, ecology, geotechnical, etc.).Provide technical civil engineering expertise throughout the development phase to support planning consent and capital approval.Act as Lead Engineer for designated projects, coordinating multi-disciplinary design teams, managing programmes and fees, and interfacing with clients and stakeholders.Specify, manage, and be accountable for inputs from subcontractors and sub-consultants.Coordinate with local authorities, landowners, customers, and consultants to ensure project milestones are achieved.Promote and actively participate in a strong safety-first culture across all activities.Support process improvements by implementing lessons learned from completed projects.Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.Essential Experience & SkillsMinimum 5 years' relevant experience in civil engineering or planning-stage design.Strong technical capability in civil engineering and/or planning design at development stage.Proven track record delivering major project outputs and managing key project elements.Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and technical report-writing skills.Strong commercial awareness.Full clean driver's licence (ROI), access to a car, and flexibility to travel nationwide 1–2 times per month.Desirable ExperienceExperience delivering civil engineering or utility infrastructure projects.Experience in planning submission processes within the jurisdiction.Previous experience as Lead Engineer and/or in a PSDP role.QualificationsEssential:Level 8 Engineering Degree (or equivalent).Desirable:Chartered or working towards chartership with a recognised professional body.Working ArrangementsHybrid working: remote work combined with approx. 2 in-office days per week at a Dublin-based office.Travel and accommodation expenses for business travel (outside normal place of work) reimbursed when pre-approved.Contractors must have their own phone, laptop/PC, and internet access.Safety RequirementsContractors must comply with all relevant Health & Safety regulations and instructions.
