Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Officer to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated health and safety professional to play a key role in maintaining a safe, compliant, and positive working environment across a busy manufacturing operation.
The successful candidate will provide specialist health and safety support, promote a strong safety culture, and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, company policies, and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate the implementation and ongoing compliance of Health & Safety policies, procedures, and safe systems of work.
Provide expert advice, guidance, and support to employees and management on all Health & Safety matters.
Promote and maintain a positive Health & Safety culture throughout the organisation.
Support senior management in ensuring workplace safety standards are consistently achieved.
Review and update Health & Safety policies and procedures in line with legislative requirements and industry best practice.
Coordinate and schedule monthly Health & Safety audits and inspections across all departments.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date Health & Safety records and documentation.
Manage risk assessments and support hazard identification and control measures.
Conduct incident, accident, and near-miss investigations and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
Deliver Health & Safety inductions for new employees and facilitate refresher training programmes.
Coordinate external Health & Safety training requirements, including:
Monitor and coordinate servicing and maintenance schedules for Health & Safety equipment.
Conduct regular workplace inspections and Gemba walks to identify hazards, unsafe acts, and non-conformances.
Organise, attend, and record weekly Health & Safety Committee meetings, including preparation of meeting minutes.
Manage incident reporting processes and maintain accurate records within company systems.
Escalate Health & Safety concerns and potential risks promptly to management.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
Health & Safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, Diploma, Degree, or equivalent).
Minimum of 4 years' experience in a Health & Safety role.
Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practices.
Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of an organisation.
Desirable:
Experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Experience delivering Health & Safety training.
Commitment to continuous professional development and further study.
