Site Engineer – Main Contractor | Donegal
About the Role
AA Euro Group are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client for a Site Engineer to join a major new building project in Donegal. This role will suit a motivated engineer with proven experience in setting out, site management, and technical oversight on large-scale construction projects.
As Site Engineer, you will be responsible for setting out the works, coordinating with foremen, operatives and subcontractors, and ensuring that all technical, quality and safety standards are achieved on site.
Key Responsibilities
* Set out works accurately and provide clear information to foremen and operatives.
* Interpret and communicate drawings, specifications, and technical requirements to the site team and subcontractors.
* Carry out and oversee materials testing in line with project specifications.
* Conduct quality reviews, particularly in relation to rebar and concrete placement.
* Review technical submissions before upload to the design team.
* Oversee and record concrete testing and results.
* Direct subcontractors as required for works execution.
* Prepare technical method statements.
* Coordinate traffic management on site, particularly in a busy location.
* Monitor, check, and maintain setting out instruments and testing equipment.
* Promote and maintain a culture of Health & Safety on site, reporting any unsafe practices.
* Support your own professional development through training and participation in the work-based development programme.
* Maximise efficiency and profitability by ensuring accuracy and minimising rework.
* Build and maintain professional relationships with colleagues, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
* Attend site meetings and follow instructions from supervisors and project managers.
Requirements
* Degree-level qualification in Engineering (or related discipline).
* Proven experience as a Site Engineer, with strong setting-out expertise.
* Previous experience working with a main contractor, subcontractor, or surveying firm.
* Demonstrated experience managing traffic on large-scale or city-centre projects.
* Strong knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
