Job Title: Renal Nurse Galway
This is a 1-year maternity contract, working 37.5 hours per week with shifts over Monday to Saturday.
The successful candidate will be part of a Dialysis Team and take personal responsibility for ensuring that policies and procedures are known and followed in accordance with the advisory guidelines and practices set out in Irish National Nursing Council (INNC).
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
* Deliver high standards of evidence-based nursing care as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Provide direct patient care without supervision, adhering to established nursing procedures and policies.
* Report significant changes in patients' conditions to the appropriate team members.
* Promote health education and support for patients, referring them to professionals or agencies as necessary.
* Accompany patients who require assistance with their transport.
* Treat patients with courtesy and respect their individual needs while maintaining confidentiality.
* Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, relatives, visitors, and colleagues.
* Manage equipment and supplies in conjunction with senior ward nurses.
* Report complaints, incidents, or accidents to the nurse in charge/line manager, completing relevant documentation according to clinic procedure.
* Comply with manual handling regulations when moving and handling patients.
Skills & Experience Requirements:
* Current registration as a Registered Nurse with an INMB PIN to practice.
* Completion of additional clinical skills training required in the unit, such as IV drug administration and cannulation.
* Evidence of research utilisation to maintain and improve patient care.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fluency in English.
* Ability to build rapport, communicate clearly, and empathise with patients, relatives, and colleagues.
* Conflict resolution skills to manage difficult situations.
* Organisational skills for coordinating patient care, using initiative, time management, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
* Teamwork and ability to provide verbal reports on patients' conditions.
* Mentorship and presentation skills to promote an effective learning environment.
